It Is What It Is
I made it to my younger brother Rob and his family’s place in Alabama on Sunday June 18th 2017. First thing Monday Rob had to leave for two weeks for a business trip so his wife Wendy and my nephew Garrett decided to do some exploring on our own. Our first stop was Russell Cave National Monument. It is a nice quiet little park, with an easy trail to the mouth of the cave. Due to erosion issues visitors are no longer able to actually go into the cave, but it was pretty cool to see. The Park Ranger said that they have explored over 7.5 miles back inside the cave, and it still goes further back. There was a nice nature trail loop that we hiked and Garrett was determined to find a rock to make a hatchet out of, so the search for the perfect stone was on. He had seen some of the tools that had been excavated from the cave in the parks museum, and wanted to see if he could make one the same way. He finally settled on one that he believes will make the perfect hatchet. He has an extensive imagination and I do believe he’ll get the job done. Reminds me of me…lol Back on the road and who knows where to next…
