It Is What It Is
After another week or so in Florida I said farewell to my brother Kenny and his wife Sharon and headed out to continue my adventure. I headed north again to Georgia, to see some more friends around Warner Robins AFB. I checked into my room at the Hilton Garden Inn Warner Robins (very nice hotel by the way) and called my good buddy Kurt W. Bond. I hadn’t seen Kurt since 2003. We went to dinner, were we laughed and talked about the good ol’ days while we were stationed at McClellan AFB in CA and spend a great evening just catching up. I’m just mad I didn’t think to get a picture of us before the night ended. Saturday rolled around and I spent most of it with another great family, the Martin’s. We had been stationed in Oklahoma together and it was a huge surprise to see how much their boys had grown since I last had seen them. We went to see their oldest, Connor, play baseball and soaked up the sun while watching some good ball. Back to their house for some dinner, I had another very enjoyable evening with them, more laughs and memories.
Sunday June 18th, Father’s Day, I headed out for western Georgia to a place called Providence Canyon State Park. OMG !!! I had a blast walking around and hiking the canyons and creek bed. I would have spent the whole day there, but a big thunderstorm rolled in and the thought of being down in a canyon creek bed during a big rain just wasn’t really on my bucket list at this point in time. I headed north down some ol’ Georgia back road to Athens Alabama to see my younger brother Rob and his family…… Til’ next time Georgia !!
